Nürburgring Car Racing in Germany

We went racing again this weekend and took our Porsche to try it out. We bought eight laps and only used two so we'll be going back! Albert got a little competitive and tough on our car; it burned almost two quarts of oil on those two laps. But check this out, we saw the twins from the movie Cars. I'm not kidding. There were two green GT3 Porsches that parked next to each other and followed each other around the track. Now I just need to find all the other cars from the movie and I can make a big poster to sell that has real cars instead of cartoon cars.

The twins!

That's Albert and our Porsche. The picture is blurry because my zoom lens doesn't have image stabilization, need a new one.

Isn't this color just dreamy? They have a color like this for Lamborghini's. When I get my Diablo it'll be orange, hee hee.

The Answer

I'm glad I stumped everybody!

princess

was my answer but besides the earrings you could say crown. I did kind of cheated with the 'princess cut' on the earrings, but they are also something a princess might wear. I'll have to make them tough more often; that was fun!

Word of the Week

Hello! Here's how to play the game: these four photos have one thing in common, guess what it is in the comments. You can click the photos to view the products from Etsy or click on the shop names to visit the shops.

If you have an etsy shop and would like to have a give-away for one of your items, let me know! I will feature you in another Word of the Week and display an ad for you on the side of my blog for two weeks.

Stephenie Meyer and Twilight

It seems to be one of the topics of pop culture. Either you hate the Twilight Saga or love it. Typically I don't read books that have a crazy amount of hype, but I read Twilight long before there was hype. She's a wonderful writer, I get completely lost in her books. It's just the topics that are controversial. Is Bella too dependent on the overpowering Edward? I'm much more in love with her Host book. The topic doesn't bug me quite so much as the unbelievable, fantasy relationship of Edward and Bella.

Now Stephenie Meyer has a novella about the newborn vampire from Eclipse, Bree. She's letting her fans read it for free until July 5th (just click the book cover to get to breetanner.com). I'll post a review on it later. I really enjoyed it. It's always pretty fun to think about the other characters in a book, and here Stephenie Meyer took a very small character in the Eclipse book and hashed out her story.

So tell me, do you love it or hate it? Or are you the person I haven't heard about yet that is neutral on the topic?

The Answer

That was depressing. I love you Mom, but I was celebrating a year of Word of the Week and I only got one comment? I really liked the stuff I found too. Must be officially summer since no one is online anymore. The answer is

languages

since I should get my butt back into gear and start the next level of German. That is definitely on the to-do list. Well, have a good rest of your day wherever you are and whatever language you speak!

Word of the Week

Hello, and welcome to Word of the Week. I was editing through my old posts and noticed that this has been going for just over a year now. Yay! Here's how to play. These four photos have one thing in common, guess what it is in the comments. You can click on the photos to view the products or click the shop names to visit the shops. I'll post the answer tomorrow. We have a give-away coming in July; I can't wait!

Portraits of My Niece

When my sister was pregnant for the first time I had this dream of being the most awesome aunt, the one that lets you drive fast on your 16th birthday and the one that takes you for drinks on your 21st. I also wanted to have a nickname for my niece. But I didn't want to just pick one, I wanted it to mean something. So just a few days after she was born, she presented it to me. Whenever she was hungry she wouldn't really cry, she would just squeak. Squeaker. I have it on video and everything. Even now when she's two years old, she is quite the squeaky little thing, squeals when she's excited and all. I took photos of her every three months during her first year. Here is the link to the three month photos. And here is the link to the slideshow I made of the whole year. Now I'll post the six month photos. She was sitting on her own but not crawling and certainly becoming very animated!

Portraits of My Sister

I was backing up photos yesterday and happened upon some of my older stuff. I have been wanting to post the portraits I've done, so over the next few weeks I will. I got a lot of practice when my sister was first pregnant and after my niece was born. It makes me sad that I'm missing her second pregnancy, and my niece going from one year to two. These are two of the belly pictures I took for her. We went hiking quite a long ways, and I think she was eight months here, she's a superstar when it comes to being healthy.

The Answer and The Nürburgring

Cars, cars, cars

We went to the Nürburgring near Köln on Sunday. It is a well known racing track, and if you have played racing games you have probably driven the track. It was truly a lot of fun and the best car fix we could have asked for. Albert has really been missing drag racing, and so have I.

A real Ferrari! Guido, punch me!

Bumble bee Porsches, they had a fancy racing trailer and semi too.

Dodge Viper

A 944 Porsche, we have a 924 from 1987. Very like this only in red.

Albert and our friend who took us waving at me from the VW R32.

I've added the Ferrari into into Sweet Shot Tuesdays. For more sweet shots click here.

I found some really fun stuff for this one. I need to shop around on etsy more often, the choices are amazing lately! Here's how the game works...these four photos have one thing in common, guess what it is in the comments. You can view the products by clicking on the images and visit the shops by clicking the shop names. Have fun! I'll post the answer tomorrow and a fun story about this weekend.

P.S. Please excuse the construction, I'm working on updating the blog.

Family Trip to Germany

The second week my family was here my dad and brother-in-law showed up. They brought my precious parakeet, Moe. We've missed her for the past eight months. She was hand-raised and is just as friendly as a big parrot. We played her favorite song, and after not hearing it that entire time she still sang to it!

Anyways, my dad and brother-in-law flew in and then we headed to Munich. We saw Dachau, very heart-breaking. We went to the Munich Ratskeller restaurant for dinner. Then we headed to the Neuschwanstein Castle, otherwise known as the Disney Castle. I'm having to split up the photos into three segments, so that's it for this one. There will be more later.
Visiting Esslingen for ice cream and an afternoon in the park.
